Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) a leading nonprofit organization which defends civil liberties in the digital world, announced the yearly scoring of key tech companies’ practices when it comes to protecting user data.

There are six categories in which applicable companies are ranked when it comes to protecting user data from the government’s eyes:

  • Requirement of warrant for content disclosure
  • Informs users about government data demands
  • Publishes transparency reports
  • Publishes law enforcement procedures
  • Looks after user’s confidentiality rights in court
  • Looks after user’s confidentiality rights in congress

A company that meets the specifications of EFF in a particular category is awarded with a star:
