Microsoft officials announced that Windows 10 Home will cost $110 while Windows 10 Pro will cost $199. Microsoft will also offer an upgrade option from Home edition to Pro edition priced at $99.
Microsoft will offer Windows 10 for free for the first year to consumers with Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1, starting on July 29, 2015. This offer ends on July 29, 2016 and from that point forward Microsoft will start charging for the upgrade.
Once you upgrade to Windows 10, you will receive security updates, hot fixes and new features on a regular basis free of charge. Unlike older versions of Windows, you won’t be able to decline the installation of the Windows updates.
In more detail, Windows 10 Home users won’t have the option to delay the installation of Windows updates at all. Windows 10 Pro users will have the option to defer the installation, for a short period of time, via Windows Update for Business or WSUS; while Windows 10 Enterprise users get the most choice.
